Prior to your surgery you should expect the following:
Our office will contact you to book a surgical date. Please note surgeries are booked in order of signed consent, so there may be a delay in receiving a call depending on how many patients are already on our surgical waitlist. Additionally the operative schedule is only received from the Sault Area Hospital in 3 month increments, we may be waiting for the next schedule prior to being able to book you.
- Depending on your medical history Dr. Fraser will determine if a consultation with a cardiologist or internal medicine specialist is necessary. If a consult is required a referral will be sent on your behalf. Their office will be the one to contact you to schedule an appointment. An appointment may not be available for up to 3-4 months.
- An appointment with the pre-admit department at Sault Area Hospital will be scheduled approximately 1 week prior to your scheduled surgery. Depending on your medical history and your surgical proceedure you may be assessed by the following: a pre-admit nurse, anesthesiologist, physiotherapy, and diagnostic imaging.
